Focusing on patient
interactions at the time of service, this phase seeks to standardize
the educational material that is provided to patients and is the first
phase in the patient CRM process. Standardization of the educational
experience during the doctor-patient interaction allows providers and
their hospital affiliates to exhibit due diligence by communicating
to the patient what to expect during their health care provider interaction.
1. The Book - The
Education phase acts to communicate patient responsibility in the health
care process. This phase is essential in establishing a relationship
with the patient and defining expectations. Patients receive and are
encouraged to read the book Health Care Self-Defense before being examined
by the health care provider. The book outlines the essentials of the
health care process in a quick and easy to read format. Outlined is
how to manage your appointment time, basics on how to work with your
doctor, what is patient responsibility, and also outlined is where and
how to find additional health care information.
2. The Seminar and
Organizational Tools - The health care provider may encourage certain
patients to seek additional education by attending a Health Care Self-Defense
seminar. During this seminar the recommendations in the book are expanded
upon and those recommendations are made real and actionable to the audience.
The organizational tools during the seminar make the recommendations
in the book achievable. This integrated educational approach works to
standardize the amount and quality of information a patient may have
about the health care process.
